How to plan Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata & West Bengal
Durga Puja is West Bengal’s biggest festival season. Crowds move from neighbourhood to neighbourhood between Saptami and Dashami, and famous clubs can take hours to enter after dark. Pandal Explorer is built so you can shortlist pandals before you step out — by area, rating, crowd level and curated editorial lists — then open maps when you are on the road.
Start with Kolkata if you want heritage lanes in the north, large thematic installations in the south, and Salt Lake or New Town evenings that are easier to navigate by car. Howrah has its own dense festival circuit across the river. Further north, Siliguri’s Durga Puja pandals are a separate weekend-worthy trail for travellers in North Bengal.
